Do I Need a Kit for LED Headlights
If you're only replacing the bulbs in your headlamp assembly, then you may need a conversion kit. It depends upon a couple of factors:
- Vehicle Manufacturer: If you're in the USA and are trying to add LED bulbs to a foreign-made vehicle, you may need Anti-Flickers to reduce flickering, strobing and shutting off. Some American automobiles made overseas can also experience this cut-out.
- Plug-N-Play Design: Some bulbs are considered plug-n-play with most vehicles, but it's best to be prepared to purchase the Canceller — they're easy to install and almost always solve the issue. It depends on the wiring and relays in your vehicle. If a CanBus or PWM is factory-installed, you will most likely benefit from the extra Relay Harness to mimic the electrical system.
- LED Light Assemblies: If you want to avoid the extra wiring, LED light assemblies are for you! Pre-wired, bolt-on, retrofit upgrade LED headlight assemblies are designed to fit your vehicle precisely. Just remove and unplug the factory assembly, and replace it with your new LED headlights. This is a fantastic option for many who struggle to find the extra time to install LED bulb kits.
Is it Illegal to Fit LED Headlights?
While it's illegal to install many LED forward bulbs as headlights in the USA — with the exemption of LED fog lights, LED light assemblies are perfectly legal.
